No. Complete beginners are most welcome – and usually the majority!
In the Postnatal classes, there will be women attending from 6 weeks to a year or more after birth, with varied birth experiences (vaginal, Caesarean, assisted, complicated). Within this, there will also be a range of physical abilities / levels of fitness. Classes cater for everyone attending, with variations given progressively. And there usually needs to be a gentle but repeated focus on pelvic floor and abdominal control and general flexibility for all postnatal mums!
For Baby Yoga classes, the main focus of the class is on the babies themselves (and babies are natural yogis anyway!!). And as mentioned above, no yoga experience is necessary for mums.
You can either attend the Subiaco studio (The Yoga Company, located at 400 Roberts Road / cnr Station Street, Subiaco WA 6008), or arrange for a home visit/s (see Contact page for Serviced Areas).

Yes! If you are taking Baby Massage lessons with us, we will provide you with a list of available products in advance, and bring them along to sessions. We sell a selection of natural organic, cold-pressed, pesticide-free oils, as well as step-by-step Baby Massage manuals and DVDs. Note: These oils will be available to use within lessons, and Vicki will discuss appropriate oils to use.
1-on-1 physiotherapy or yoga therapy consults are claimable if you have Ancillary cover for Physiotherapy.
Physiotherapist-led group exercise classes (including Yoga and Pilates) may also be claimable – please check with your provider. (If claimable under your particular cover, you need to have already attended classes in order to claim for them. Receipts for sessions paid for in advance will not be accepted by the insurer. We can provide a receipt for claiming at the end of each block, which will include the dates classes were attended. Please let us know if you require this.)
Medicare itself doesn’t cover Physiotherapy unless the client has a previously arranged ‘Chronic Disease Management’ Plan with their GP (formerly known as Enhanced Primary Care (EPC)), which includes a recommendation for Physiotherapy.  This can be put in place for clients (adults or children) who have a chronic condition (that has been (or is likely to be) present for six months or longer) and complex care needs.  This can include conditions such as asthma, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and musculoskeletal conditions. Please see for more details: http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/content/health-medicare-allied-health-brochure.htm Please contact us if you have questions regarding this.
If you’re attending Baby Massage lessons or Postnatal Yoga + Pilates classes, there is no extra charge for multiple babies.

If you’re attending Baby Yoga classes, we recommend a carer for each baby (as this is a very baby-focused class). We offer a 50% discount for additional siblings/carers.

Note: There is no extra charge for siblings for any in-home sessions.

Anyone who cares for the baby, is familiar and has regular contact, is welcome to attend Baby Yoga or Baby Massage classes – mum, dad, grandparent, guardian or nanny!
Postnatal classes are for mums who have given birth in the past year – however these classes will still be beneficial for other carers who want to attend a yoga class and are caring for a small baby.
If dads are working during the day, private (in-home) sessions are perfect, to enable both parents to attend.

The Benefits

Yoga and Baby Massage can provide a wealth of benefits to you, your child and, in turn, whole family.

Babies will benefit from the teachings of gentle movement, touch stimulation, handling tips and tummy time ideas. Both massage and yoga can alleviate digestion issues, colic, anxiety, discomfort and stress. With this comes healthier sleeping patterns, more “settled” time and improved moods. Yoga and massage also assist the transition between developmental stages, and are perfect activities to enhance mutual understanding and bonding between carer and baby.
